BOTOX
Houston, Texas
What is so special about Botox?
As you grow older your skin becomes less elastic due to the loss of collagen and reduced vascularization of tissues. Wrinkles occur when certain muscles become more dominant and the skin does not have the ability to be as elastic in response to these muscle contractions.
Because the muscles of the face are relatively small, it is necessary to introduce the medicine by injection so that the exact placement and effect is achieved. By introducing the medicine into the exact muscle group responsible for the wrinkling, various aesthetic enhancements can be obtained in addition to elimination of wrinkles.
What Is Botox?
Botox (Botulinum Toxin-A) is a medicine that relaxes muscles by inhibiting the secretion of acetylcholine needed for muscle contraction. It has been used for the past 25 years to treat neuromuscular disorders such as TMJ, chronic neck spasms, tension headaches, and even overactive sweat glands.

Best Candidates for Botox
Obviously, any patient who has wrinkles is a potential candidate for Botox. Some patients have more wrinkles than others so they typically require more treatment, but some people will benefit from less intense treatment to prevent more wrinkles later. There are patients who are not good candidates for Botox because of underlying medical problems, so it is important to discuss your medical history with your provider.
What To Expect with Botox?
Every patient is different, so there may be a different response to Botox therapy. It takes 7-10 days for the treatment to take full effect. Some patients may have to have “touch ups” after their initial treatment and most providers will recommend a follow up visit within that time frame to do so. Most patients can expect some potential swelling or bruising immediately after their treatment, but this can be minimized by following post treatment care guidelines as instructed by your provider.
Expected Cost of Botox
Botox therapy is typically priced by the unit or the area of treatment. It is an effective non-surgical option for many in achieving a more youthful appearance.
Botox Therapy
Your face expresses your emotions throughout your life. However, as you get older, your skin loses elasticity due to collagen loss and decreased tissue vascularization. Expression lines appear gradually, resulting in wrinkles, creases, and crow’s feet. Wrinkles (rhytids) develop when certain muscles become more dominant and the skin’s ability to respond to muscle contractions is reduced. There is no scientific way to predict when someone will begin to develop wrinkles. Different patients of varying ages begin to develop wrinkles at different times than others. This is where Botox therapy can help patients keep their facial skin firm and attractive.
What is Botox therapy?
Botox injections are a nonsurgical procedure used to reduce the visibility of moderate to severe wrinkles, crow’s feet, and expression lines. Botulinum toxin type A, the neurotoxin used to make botox injections, temporarily relaxes and paralyzes the nerves that cause muscles to contract and produce expression lines.
The severity of wrinkles varies depending on where on the face they appear as well as other personal traits. To reduce or soften existing wrinkles, we will develop a treatment plan with you. Botox injections can also be used as a preventative measure to stop wrinkles from forming by relaxing the muscles that cause lines, creases, and folds.
Botox therapy is a very safe procedure, no matter what your aesthetic requirements are. It could last three months or longer, depending on your metabolism and how often you receive treatments. Our customized treatments are painless, and we pay close attention to avoiding bruising while maintaining a natural appearance.
A Non-Surgical Way to Look Younger: Botox
How you look today is not permanent. It undergoes a specific change while retaining its fundamental characteristics and bone structure. Therefore, until it is absolutely necessary, no one should ever consider having a “face lift” or any other type of surgery. We understand your desire to look younger, as well as the need for these treatments to appear natural and to be painless and effective.
What to Expect Before, During, and After a Botox Procedure?
We’ll get in touch with you a few days prior to your appointment to go over the procedure and to give you aftercare instructions so you’ll know what to expect in the hours and days after the injection.
Typically, a Botox injection only takes ten minutes, though this can vary depending on the number of treatment areas and the severity of the wrinkles. You might feel a tiny pinch or discomfort as the injection is given, but it usually doesn’t hurt and doesn’t require anesthesia.
After treatment, you are free to resume your regular activities, but be cautious and don’t touch the treated area for at least three hours. You should also avoid lying down for at least 4 hours to prevent the Botox solution from migrating into the eye area and causing drooping eyelids.
